Amazon Kindle vs Kindle Paperwhite: Which one I chose and why.
Hey there! So, I was looking around on Amazon during their Prime Day sale and stumbled upon the Kindle and Kindle Paperwhite. That sale inspired this post because if you’re like me, you want to get the best bang for your buck. The original Kindle is cheaper and has similar features, but the Paperwhite just won me over. 1. Screen Size
The bigger screen on the Kindle Paperwhite really made a difference for me when I was picking between the two models. I wanted a good-sized screen because I knew I’d be using it a lot for reading.
2. The Kindle Paperwhite is Waterproof
Picture this: you’re at the beach and your book sitting next to you is suddenly drenched by an errant wave or in my case a toddler dumping a pale of water on it. That would ruin your beach day relaxation pretty quickly. Enter the Kindle Paperwhite in all of its waterproof glory. You can take it to the beach, the pool, the sprinkler in the backyard you name it. And you do not have to worry about it getting soggy pages or no longer working.

3. Screen display
You can read the Kindle Paperwhite anywhere! Seriously, I read at the beach, in the car (not driving), at night when I’m holding my infant, and anywhere else. The display looks almost the same as a paperback, which was really important to me because I didn’t want to miss out on the ability to read in bright light or low light and with the Paperwhite, I do not have to make any sacrifices.
4. Battery life
It basically never dies, it’s incredible. I think I end up charging it every ten days or so. You may need to charge more often if you read all day and all night, but for me, reading about four hours a day, I can make it around ten days before it dies.
5. Storage
If you’re a bookworm like me, you’ll love the ample storage that all models of the Kindle offer. I personally enjoy reading a mix of romance, psychological thrillers, classics and self-help books. Depending on how my day’s been, I switch between these genres. Instead of carrying multiple heavy books, I always take my lightweight Kindle with me. It can hold thousands of books at once, so I have plenty of options to choose from without weighing myself down.
6. Kindle Unlimited
Lastly, Kindle Unlimited is an excellent service that cost $9.99 a month and provides access to thousands of books. I have found so many books that I love on Kindle Unlimited and I’m amazed by the diversity. The only downfall is that many authors are self published so there are times when books lack editing, and it takes some digging. But there are hundreds if not thousands of amazing authors, including Colleen Hoover, who seems to be a favorite among my readers! Many Colleen Hoover books are included with Kindle Unlimited and i’ve compiled a list with summaries and quotes, check it out here.
If you’re ready to purchase a Kindle head on over to Amazon and see for yourself why the Kindle Paperwhite is my favorite e-reader!
